VFSS is a video x-ray of swallowing.

Patients go to the radiology department for this assessment. It requires the patient to be relatively well and usually only happens after they leave intensive care.

The test involves the patient swallowing food or drink that contains a contrast material (x-ray dye) which allows us to see it on the moving x-ray image.
